Start your day experiencing The Darling Downs Zoo. Be amazed at the vast array of beautiful and ugly, dangerous and gentle, big and small, but always fascinating, wildlife... and all just a short drive from Toowoomba. Open 9am - 4pm.

On the way back to town take a short detour into Cambooya, a quaint country town just south of Toowoomba, to enjoy a good old fashioned pub lunch or a cold drink. After breakfast take a stroll through Queens Park as you make your way to exploring the natural and cultural history of the Darling Downs. Cobb+Co Museum is part of the Queensland Museum and is home to the National Carriage Collection. As well as Cobb & Co coaches, the museum includes exhibits such as the Energy for Life Discovery Centre, Aboriginal artifacts, dinosaur exhibit as well as a cafe and play area for children. Opening Hours 10am - 4pm daily.

Wind down and enjoy a picnic lunch in the cool & relaxed surrounds of some of Toowoomba’s beautiful parks and gardens. There are excellent facilities for children to play and explore at a variety of parks. A fantastic spot to grab some picnic essentials is Wendlend Fine Foods, just a few blocks away from Cobb & Co.

After lunch head out to the Downs Steam Tourist Railway & Museum. Run and operated by a passionate and knowledgeable group of volunteers, this is a must do for those with a keen interest in historical machinery.  Opening Hours Saturday 9am - 3pm.

Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, there are so many to pick from, but if pizza is your thing why not try Artisan Pizza, housed in a beautiful historic building at 41a Russell Street Toowoomba. Bookings highly recommended. Opening Hours 5pm - 9.30pm

Teenage Energy Burn & Graffiti Art

This is one for the bigger kids for energy to burn!! Start the day with a hearty breakfast at any of Toowoomba and the Darling Down’s beautiful cafe’s - we highly recommend The Firefly Cafe for delicious local produce. Open Saturday from 7am.

After breakfast put your climbing shoes on and head to Table Top mountain. Getting to the top of the mountain is a combination of hiking, rock hopping, scrambling and climbing. It is tricky in sections, you do need to have a reasonable level of fitness. Going up and back the hike takes about two and half hours. From Toowoomba follow South St south until it becomes Tabletop dr. Continue to follow Tabletop dr until it turns into a dirt track. At the end of the dirt track is the entrance to the walk and areas to park.

There are other bushwalks available where you can get a good view of Tabletop - try the bushwalks around Picnic Point Park - just off Tourist Rd Toowoomba.

Wind down and enjoy a picnic lunch in the cool & relaxed surrounds of some of Toowoomba’s beautiful parks and gardens.

After lunch we not wander into town and have a look at how Toowoomba’s newest festival, The First Coat Festival has transformed our city. Grab a cupcake as you wander at Crave Cupcakes - yum!  Here is a map for your guide to the best graffiti art around town.

Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, there are so many to pick from, but if Prime Cut steaks is what you crave - try The Spotted Cow located on the corner of Ruthven and Campbell Streets Toowoomba. Bookings highly recommended. Opening Hours 6pm - late

After breakfast take a drive out to Harrow Gardens to experience a historic garden and grand homestead. Harrow was once the centre of the small village with many outbuildings, workers cottages and a school. Harrow is still very much a working property today. The rambling picturesque gardens cover 10 acres featuring a 50 metre rose arbour, a lake with waterlilies, extensive garden beds, interesting trees and shrubs and a fish pond. The garden is open from 10am on Saturday 9 April.

To get there, go past the ‘Bull & Barley Inn’ in Cambooya. Continue under the railway bridge, turn right crossing low level bridge – go straight ahead on gravel road for 1km then left on the ‘Cambooya Felton Rd’ for approx 7km – Entrance to Harrow.

On the way back to Toowoomba,  enjoy a good old fashioned pub lunch or a cold drink at The Bull & Barley Inn. This grand old pub has been restored to its former grandeur. Experience the authentic 1900’s old world atmosphere, with displays of interesting historic photographs.

As you arrive back in Toowoomba make sure you visit Ju Raku En - the Japanese Gardens - these gardens, partly owned by USQ and Toowoomba City Council, are quite simply magnificent and a must see. The Garden is open daily from 6:00am (AEST) to Dusk and admission is free. You can enter the gardens via the university or Regent Street.

Feel like some retail therapy? The Sauce Kitchen is a kitchen shop as well as a cafe, cooking school and caterer.  They stock a large range of famous brand kitchen and homewares - well worth a look. There are some beautiful antique shops to explore. We highly recommend a potter about in Lancasters on Railway Street - an ever changing treasure trove of antiques and collectables. Opening hours 9am - 4pm
